The Washington Post loves Kooley High

The venerable Washington Post knows what's up. In yesterday's "Singles File" article, Allison Stewart gave a nod to Raleigh rap group Kooley High's newest single.
She writes: Kooley High: "Everywhere Is Summer" The North Carolina-based hip-hop nostalgists turn a remixed version of Common's "Everywhere" into a soulful, summery reminder of the mid-'90s, when jazz-influenced hip-hop outfits like A Tribe Called Quest roamed the Earth.

Kooley High documentary hits the Web

"One Day: Introducing Kooley High" was directed by Napoleon Wright II, and tracks the up-and-coming rap group in its members' day-to-day lives. Spencer Griffith's report of the film's theatrical debut ran in The Independent Weekly and can be read here.

Kooley High, movie stars

To date, Kooley High has only released one proper album--and an E.P. at that. But that didn't stop filmmaker Napoleon Wright from deciding the young rap group was a worthy enough subject to be the focus of a documentary, "One Time." The film debuts Jan. 24 at the Galaxy Theater in Cary.

Kooley High announces LP release


Kooley High has announced plans to follow this year's old-school awesome Summer Sessions EP, with an official long-player, to be titled The High Life, in February.

Free Kooley High compilation

Compiled by bloggers Zillz (of zillasays.com) and Travis (of wydublog.com), Burn After Listening, is a compilation of tracks from the young Raleigh hip-hop group Kooley High, a group whose music the two bloggers found they shared a common love for. The collection draws from Kooley High's Summer Sessions EP, Raleigh's Finest mixtape and rare tracks as well. Burn After Listening also features contributions from Median, Chaundon, Edgar Allen Floe and 9th Wonder.
